Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche hit town this week. She spent a few days in London and, for those of us fortunate enough to see her, she melted and smelted us into a new stage of life. Truly transformational.
We need to understand just how important meeting the Dharma is, she said, and once we do then we will not waste any more time. We won’t busy ourselves reading this and doing that; we will put all our effort into realizing the deepest truths of the Dharma ourselves. After all, that is the main point.
And in the process of reviewing our life, checking out whether or not we are really living up to the Dharma we purport to practise, a key question we might ask ourselves is this: what is my relationship with Buddhism? Where is it going? In which direction is it taking me? Many Buddhists spend quite a bit of time and money on their Dharma life – attending events, travelling to retreats, engaging in daily practices and so on – so there should be some accomplishment to show for all that effort.
